::: More Ancient Circles Near Serpent Mound, Ohio

Ohio_serpent_thInteresting burial mounds near serpent mound, Ohio can be seen from the air.  According to archaeologists the mounds are burial mounds for the Adena Indians.  They are very similar to the California mounds in arrangement but seem to be a bit smaller.

::: Mound Formations Near Mt. Shasta, California

Mound_1_1A strange mound site has been spotted near Mt. Shasta in California.  The origin of the mound site is unknown and the mounds are laid out in lines and Interstate 5 can be seen running between them in the thumbnail image. They are around 60 feet in diameter.  These same circular features can also be found in parts of Oregon and in NE California.

8_mounds
North of the mound site there is a formation of 8 large mounds in a circle configuration.  The smaller mounds have been spotted near these larger mounds and I'm wondering if there could be a connection or if I'm just seeing an interesting coincidence.  Each mound is around 800 feet in height.

::: Underwater Patterns Yonaguni, Japan- Belize Atolls, Second Look

Patt_8_nThe SD website has been updated with a set of images I think many of you will find interesting.  The first new image study is of the surrounding underwater regions next to Jima, Yonaguni at 1meter resolution.  The study shows another series of patterns that I find fascinating and are truly worthy of more inquiry and interest.  Perhaps these patterns are related to the Yonaguni underwater site? More... Yonaguni images.

Patt_7_thI've also updated the patterns section to include these patterns North of the 'blue hole' region in the Chinchorro atoll.  There are more images of the 'blue hole' area at 1meter resolution since a few people have e-mailed me that the patterns are compression artifacts due to low resolution.  All I can say is this place looks very interesting from the air at 1meter as well as 30meter image resolution...

::: Large Gridded Anomaly, Cay Sal Bank, Bahamas

Baha_c_1Large, gridded anomaly can be seen on the Cay Sal bank in the Bahamas via Landsat satellite imagery.  The feature is very complex and contains a large triangular area.  The image study seen at the SD site, contains another long line and more linear features.  I don't have a clue what this could be but it is very large and is located on the Eastern side of the Cay Sal bank.  I've read all these reports concerning a large pyramid found and photographed on the Cay Sal bank by Arl Marahall in 1977.  Although no image evidence has ever surfaced to my knowledge concerning this find, I am beginning to wonder if there is any merit to this claim that has been widely distributed over the internet.

::: Landscape Triangle Near Area 51, Nevada

Triangle_nevadaAfter numerous triangle dreams and having triangles on the brain for over 3 years now, I found this landscape triangle in Nevada via Google Earth, fascinating to put it mildly. (Check out the new SD logo..)  I find it odd more people aren't interested in these, considering the symbolic significance to alchemy and the search for the holy grail.
There are several more of these enigmas close by and a few near the Earthfiles triangle area in Utah.   What could they be?  Who made them?  Are the men in black signalling to the alien visitors?  Apparently many Google Earth users are as perplexed by these modern landlines as I am.  Perhaps they have something to do with the top secret underground facilities close by...  Always fun to guess.  A Google Placemark link for anyone wanting to take a look.

::: SEPE- Survey and Excavation Projects in Egypt- Satellite Imagery

SEPE- More uses of satellite imagery in the search for archaeology sites.  Sarah Parcak uses satellite imagery to detect vegetation and water sources which have led her to archaeology sites in Egypt.  This is a non-evasive approach to archaeology and remote sensing saves time and money.  Read more about the application and processes here.

::: An Interesting News Story from Linda Moulton Howe- Triangle Impact Site

Triangle_3 Linda Moulton Howe will be on the show Dreamland tonight with Whitley Streiber.  She is investigating a triangular depression on the ground near Garrison, Utah, it is supposedly a crash site.  I wonder if she has seen Uluru from the air or any of the triangular images at the SD site...  An interesting coincidence?

The site will be back up this evening, apparently there were some problems with extraneous content...

::: Satellite Discoveries site offline..

The Satellite Discoveries site is being taken offline today for implementation of a new site design and maintenance.  It should be back online within a few hours.

::: Lost City of Arabia found with Satellite Imagery

A great story and technical explanation of the uses of Landsat satellite imagery to find an ancient city in Arabia called Ubar.  Graphics programs such as Photoshop are exceptional tools to analyze Landsat satellite imagery.  You can pick a color from a known geological or ruin area, and select only those color pixes for the entire image, just one example of the applications of color analysis for archaeological discovery.  The same process of examining threshold data can also be performed on a typical desktop computer with graphics software.  This article- Extracting Ruins in Angkor Region Using Satellite Image Data- describes an in depth study of color pixels to help expose unexcavated ruins using a color threshold technique which can also be performed using a good graphics program on a personal desktop computer.

::: Circles form Triangle- Caroline and Marshall Islands

Micro_triangle_1 At an altitude of 21,955 meters, interesting circular formations can be seen near the Caroline and Marshall Islands.  These features are similar to the Belize patterns shown in another atoll region off the coast of the Yucatan peninsula.  I keep wondering if the circular features could be related to each other and if they were created under similar conditions.  The circles are definitely unusual formations and many appear to be perfect circles.

Micro_circles

Almost resembing an alien underwater landscape, a high resolution, 1m per pixel image reveals the circular formations under the shallow water.  A few of the circular areas appear above the surface of the water and they almost seem to glow due to their light color.  The circles have also been spotted in the Bahamas region along with strange, unexplained linear features.
