::: New image Studies, Bahamas and Haiti, Patterns and Circular features

Two new image studies have been added to the SD site.  The studies include circular features on land in the Bahamas. B_g_caicos_2

The circular features can be seen on land as well as underwater.  It is still a mystery as to what has caused these circular features.  I've read everything from water seeping up through the surface to corals and marine life forming the circles.  However, it's a bit difficult to explain the circular features and a more plausible explanation is meteors or some type of volcanic activity.  I hesitate to suggest these features were possibly man-made, but the truth is no one knows for sure so perhaps the circles are remnants of something of an ancient origin.  They just can't be explained easily.

Hait_1Unusual patterns, circles and linear formations can also be seen near the Grand Bay off the coast of Haiti.

I hesitate to jump to conclusions but I can readily admit that patterns and circles like these do not exist everywhere so I find them more than a little unusual and anomalous.

::: What is it? SD New Image Study, Florida underwater Lines, Patterns and Circles

B_flor_5

A series of unusual features have been documented in this image study off the Florida keys near the city of Marathon and Knights Key Channel.

The features consist of underwater linear features, unusual patterns, and circular features that seem to be more intact than those seen in the Bahamas.

::: Circular Features, Nassau- Bahamas

Nass_thCircular features spotted in the shallow waters of the Bahamas near the island of Nassau. It is uncertain what has caused the features, but the interesting detail is they are all around the same size in diameter (around 100 feet) and there are hundreds in the shallow water surrounding the island. I have a hunch there is more to these circular feauters than meets the eye.

::: What is it? SD New Image Study, Lake Okeechobee, FL

Unusual linear features have been found via Google Earth satellite imagery under the waters of Lake Okeechobee, in Florida.  New image Study, Satellite image research- FL, Lake Okeechobee linear features.  Modern survey maps denote no modern canal activity.

The linear feature is around 50 feet wide and continues for almost the entire length of Lake Okeechobee.  Other high albedo areas can be seen on the surrounding underwater imagery that seem out of place.  It is uncertain what the features could be although it has been suggested they could be signs of an ancient canal or ancient activity.  There have also been reports of an ancient city under the lake when the lake levels were much lower.  It is unclear if this report is accurate but the odd features in the GE imagery suggest the possibility of ancient remains under the lake.

Another area to the North reveals the linear feature continuing in shallow water.  The waves are breaking around the linear feature showing signs that something is under the water. Flor_6_a

It is still unclear what the features could be.  There have been reports of ancient canal systems being located near lake Okeechobee but it's uncertain if these linear features could be part of that system.

::: Satellites could spot ancient remains

My only question, what are we waiting for?

Satellites really could be used to spot ancient archaeological treasures buried underground, two researchers in Israel have shown.

Future satellites could have archaeological missions

Scientists had previously suspected that certain types of imaging system could look beneath the surface of the Earth under some circumstances, but no-one had the proof.
Dan Blumberg and Julian Daniels, of the Ben Gurion University, told New Scientist magazine how they were able to detect flat squares of aluminium which they had buried at different depths in the sand of the Negev desert. The pair used radar sensors on board an aircraft.

"Now we have systematic proof. Buried objects can be detected from airborne systems," Dr Blumberg said.

Desert and ice

Images from US space shuttle missions in the 1980s appeared to show ancient river drainage patterns beneath the Sahara desert.

Subsequent imaging turned up ring structures beneath the ice of Antarctica. But until now no-one has been entirely sure that these images definitely showed real objects. The Israeli pair used P-band microwave sensors. These penetrate farther underground that other microwave sensors offering better resolution. Dr Blumberg said he hoped P-band sensors could be added to satellite sensor packages.

Wet and dry

He said the imaging technique might be used to find fossils, geographic structures, underground buildings and pipes and perhaps even mass graves. The principal drawback seems to be that the technique only works on very dry ground, because liquid water absorbs microwave radiation. But, as Dr Blumberg said, that still left 15% of the Earth's surface dry enough to work on.
The Negev experiment used aluminium plates buried up to 40 centimetres beneath the sand but working systems might be able to penetrate up to nine metres into the Earth.

::: Ancient Temple Dating Back to Ninth Millennium B.C. Unearthed in Northern Syria

Saturday, September 30, 2006 - 09:10 PM

The French-Syrian Archeological Mission for Excavations working at Ja'adat al-Maghara site in Manbej on River Euphrates in northern Syria unearthed a great temple dating back to the 9th millennium B.C. in Modern Stone Era, so far the most ancient discovery in Syria and the Middle East.

Head of the Mission French Archeological expert Eric Kiniou said the great temple consists of pieces of stones, bone appliances, walls decorated with geometrical shapes, in addition to an ox head with two horns in red, black and white colors still in their freshness.  He said the ox painting indicates that this kind of animal was worshipped in that period.

Minister of Culture Riad Na'asan Agha visited the site and inspected the underway excavation works and the findings discovered during the 9-meter-depth excavations. Among the findings there were tools made of basalt stones available in that area like spears, head of arrows used in hunting.

The Minister told reporters at the site that the discover of the site is a "breakthrough and it's a pride for us in Syria and the for the humanity in general…this discovery and possible later excavations could allow us to re-read the story of civilization."

He added that "what we have seen in this site assets that people in Syria were the makers of history and civilization…and that the Syrian man-since most ancient periods- had been innovative man who was able in that period to exploit the basalt stone and turn it into tools used in everyday life."

The French-Syrian Mission has so far excavated for 16 successive seasons in this site as part of an international campaign to rescue archeological sites from waters of the lake of Tishreen Dam on River Euphrates.
